FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you have a question? We have answers!

Q: If we’re required under New York State law to meet a certain ratio for hiring Women Owned Businesses, would Functional Interiors meet that qualification?

A: Of course! Our clients were finding few reputable contractors that qualified and met the strict New York State requirements. In 2001, WE HEARD YOU! We filled out mountains of paperwork, met the rigorous criteria outlined by the State of New York, and became a qualified Women Owned Business to help you meet the standards set by the State.

Q: Our company owns an older building that we would like to convert for use by a clientele that may be elderly and many of which will be disabled. Can you help us meet all the needs those populations may require?

A: That’s our specialty! Not only does Functional Interiors assist with the design of new buildings that meet all ADA requirements, but we can help adapt your older building design to meet current ADA requirements, furnish it with amenities specifically designed for seniors and physically challenged individuals, and ensure that any individual modifications clientele may need to make can be blended and function with your design. Functionality blended with pleasing aesthetics is our goal!

Q: We are a not for profit corporation – can we afford design assistance?

A: You can’t afford NOT to have design assistance! Many non-profits work with grant funds or funds from municipal sources. These sources require that your design meet extensive development criteria. Functional Interiors has experience meeting (and exceeding) a wide range of development guidelines and requirements, whether your buildings will be used by the general public or a specialty population - Functional Interiors has “been there – done that”! We tailor our services to meet your budget needs.

Q: Wouldn’t it make sense to just make sure our buildings meet code requirements and then purchase furniture and accessories from a local outlet store, thereby saving money for our company?

A: Just make sure you purchase a great liability insurance policy! Specialty populations have needs to be met that the general population may never encounter. Table and counter heights, handrail placement, chair weight and design, lighting needs and even color and texture selection all play a vital part in any design serving special populations. Practical, beautiful and SAFE design doesn’t have to break the bank – it just makes sense, ensures the safety and comfort of your clientele and saves your company money in the long run.
